It's been a while so I thought I'd better give you all an update... Although I fear I don't have much to say, very unlike me I know!!

So, I have now left the busy streets of Kuta behind me and set sail yesterday for sandy beaches and island life in Gili Trawangen. It was sad saying goodbye to Claire and Ben, I was so lucky to meet two great people on my dive tour.

Yesterday morning, very early, I got up to catch my boat for Gili T... It was a bit of an adventure as I had no tickets, paper work or anything so I half feared I wouldn't het here at all. Anyway, after driving for 2 hours we stopped at an office and I picked up my tickets! The boat took about an hour and a half and dropped us on a sandy shore in amongst all the sunbathers. My dive bag doesn't wheel too well in sand I discovered! Anyway, I also discovered I really shouldn't be allowed to travel on my own... So, I'm staying at the Gili T resort and unbeknown to me there is also a Trawangen Resort AND a Gili Resort, needless to say I paid nearly 10 till I actually got to my hotel! I was quite excited about my 5 star luxury resort, I was showing Claire and Ben only the night before to hotel on Tripadviser.... Still my actual hotel is really nice, and perfect for me, good food and right next door to the dive centre I'm using.

So, to today... Well I went diving first thing... Nice, not a rich in life as some of the places in Bali, but really good value for money! Apparently all the centres here have a price lock so there's no need to hunt around for the best deal.

I then spent this afternoon on a bit of an adventure... I went to find my first Geocache! The map said it was in the ocean, but the compass didn't let me down. It was only 1km away so I figured it wouldn't take me long. Oh how wrong I could be. With no map and just following an arrow I found myself rummaging though the undergrowth, only wearing flip flops and totally on my own! What was great was the view from the top, it was a birds-eye look at the island. Anyway, after a bit of hunting I found it! Feeling very chuffed with myself I proudly wrote my name and took the travel bug. I was hoping to take it back to England but have since discovered it started in Belgium so it'd be really unfair if I did. I shall drop it in Bali in the hopes that the next person is an Aussie and will take it further on it's journey.

Anyway, I'm going to hit the bar tonight... On my own! Daunting to say the least, but it'd be good to get out properly.

Take care,
Sian xxx

I just want to add that I am not in Malaysia... I am on a small island near Lombok, next to Bali... I can't seem to get the map to change! Lol

Hi Sian,
It sounds lovely! I'm safely installed at my desk in lovely London after a very long flight. It's not great to be back what with the crazy riotting - not quite the same as the Zen! Very funny about your hotel! Hope you enjoy the party island!

Great read that was.

I have no idea why you say you should not be left to travel on your own - from the sounds of it all is going peachy.

Good on you going out alone - It's not easy but I am sure you will have a nice meal and maybe meet some people. What is the crowd like there? I heard in Bali there are some nice surf spots and usually surfers are pretty good looking people. Remember Matty in Vashisht!!??

Look forward to next installment xxx

Ha, Claire I so thought of you guys when I realised I was not at the Trawangen Resort... I did have a wee chuckle to myself!
It's sad to hear all about the goings on at home... I just hope everyone I know is safe and well.

Geo cache eh.. remember that old guy we bumped into who was mid- geocache in brecon by the youth hostel... he liked to chat.... As you probably know people roundf here are geocacheing but finding their goods with baseball bats and petrol... Im not sure they leave much behind either! Hope your holiday phase II is super xxx
