What a couple of days I've just had!
So, I've been back to manta point and this time we got to spend about 10/15 mins with two manta! It was amazing... They seemed blissfully unaware if us as they glided around us. They are so graceful. I was so captivated by them... I definitely want to see them more sometime again.
It's also been a bit of a family affair too. I also got to see an adult painted frog fish.... The baby back in my first couple of days was very lucky and rare, and then I got to see what it would look like when it's full grown two days ago. The funny thing was as Claire and I were busily taking photos waiting politely for each other this woman came crashing in from what appeared to be nowhere with her massive camera set up, strobes, the lot. We then had to wait for her to finish! Being British has it's draw backs sometimes.
We did have a treacherous dive at crystal bay trying to spot Mola Mola again. All was going well and then suddenly the dive master grabbed my hand and placed it on a rock to hold... This was the start of 20mins of madness! The currents were outrageously strong... We basically had to climb horizontally grabbing on to whatever we could, which goes against everything I have ever been taught, but a necessity at this time... Or be sent on a fast current stream to Darwin!! We had gone through so much air battling the currents that the dive only lasted 34 mins. Still with thoughts of getting home, shear determination and strength we got through it! Not something I wish to ever do again.
Anyway, on a brighter note I now have all my accommodation and plans for the rest of my trip sorted. I'm spending a fair bit on a hotel in the Gili's as that was about all that was left, but I am there for 5 nights so it is worth it. I just hope I can afford to do some diving when I'm there... Apparently there are tons of turtles and sharks which will be good as I've not seen many here in Bali.
I am starting to feel a bit homesick and nervous as phase two of the holiday begins - this is the bit when I'm on my own... I'm gonna have to start making an effort now! Lol
Tomorrow I'm off to Kuta... Party and Aussie central I believe!! I'm booking in a surf lesson which will be fun, I dare say I won't be particularly good but I do think everyone should try it once in their life!
Anyway till next time!
Love to you all

Ah mate sounds fab I'll think of you surfing I'll be doing it in California x
The diving sounds rather extreme!! Holy moly, glad it was worth it for the sightings. I shall look up your next destination when I have time. Just back from Norway where Ash caught a pollock... it's not really up there in the fish stakes. (ha) is it?? XXX
Glad you are still in one piece and having a fab time.
Wish I was there although Slough can be nice on a good day.
Love, Haggis
If we see the Sun in Cornwall we'll be lucky nevermind a sodding sunfish!
Stay safe you crazy travel dive lady.
xx
Hey you nutter it all sounds a bit scary to me!
You will be able to surf - have faith in your ability.. if you have good balance which you do it's not that hard.. try a long board if you have the choice - it's much easier. I think it's a brilliant thing to go it alone - you will meet people and have a great time I am sure! Stay off the tea and have some local spriti whatever that might be and it'll all be fine! :o) lots of love xxx
