Waterfalls Galore

This morning we headed out on a day trip from Split to Krka National Park - home of some spectactular waterfalls according to the guidebook. It was also home to some spectactular rain, which kindly stopped as we arrived, and managed to lay off just until we got back into the car to Split.

So you had to park up at the top, buy a ticket, and catch a bus down to the main waterfall area. The winding narrow roads down didn't seem to be too bus friendly but they did offer a pretty view of the scenery to come.



After that it was all about the flowing water! We set off on a boardwalk around the upper waterfalls first...



...And as we made our way down, the falls were getting bigger and the sun started to poke out a little, and it all looked a bit brighter.



Every corner you turn, there is a new waterfall, and it seems better than the last, and more fit for a photograph. In addition to the waterfalls, which look awesome from just about every angle I could get a photo from, I also managed to get another classic deformed tree shot, woop...



Having practically finished the descent, we stopped for a spot of lunch before reaching the epicentre of almighty waterfall glory, Skradinski Buk, which has a "46m drop over seventeen limestone steps" apparently. And in addition to that, you can go for a little dip in the waters and admire it from closer up - something you can't do at Plitvice. And apart from that feeling of tentatively treading on painfully spikey rocks to get anywhere, it was really refreshing and just rather damn cool.



Making our way back up the numerous steps in the face of much omninous cloud, there was time for a few more photos of the ubiquitous waterfalls of Krka.



All in all, a great place to go waterfall spotting, swimming, and photographing. And even a bit of sunshine on occasion aswell!
