...according to one of our penguins (Dexter). He didn't have to cycle 30k's of hills to get to the beer though. And I did all the cycling and didn't even drink the beer. I'm sure this is some sort of injustice. But anyway, it was a nice ride, really... from Albany Village through Coatesville, down to Riverhead, stopping at the Riverhead Historic Tavern for lunch.
Entertaining us over lunch was the annual Riverhead wood-chopping contest (very Kiwi). Apparently if you 'like' their page on Facebook then you can win a trailer full of wood, which you can then spend the rest of the year chopping. Sounds like free practice for next year's contest if you ask me. Hardly promoting new talent! For shame.
Anyway, their food was good - pictured is the NZ fishy classic - Hapuka. Another k or so down the road was the Hallertau brewery and our (Dexter's) end game. They brew their own beer in a German style and served up a nice tasting platter for us. I hear it was good, until the penguin passed out and made us carry him home up and down all those hills...
