We've both experienced serious culture shock - as expected the difference between here and Delhi could hardly be bigger. With the lack of dirt, noise, beggars, touts, cows and general chaos it felt like there was something missing. For about 30 seconds that is. Then we recovered from the shock and are loving it!
We've spent the afternoon exploring the shopping district of Ginza - sort of a Park Avenue meets Piccadilly Circus, with some truly enormous department stores mixed in with a huge variety of smaller exhibition spaces, coffee houses and other shops. The Sony Building was a favourite (suprisingly it was Sian who wanted to stay the longest!); unsuprisingly it was also Sian who most enjoyed window shopping at Mikimoto, the original producer of cultured pearls, as well as various other glittering stores.
All for now - more updates when we've found our feet.
We've made it to the land of the rising sun! Just a quick entry after our first few hours in the country. We arrived first thing this morning and despite being pretty dopey after our overnight flight (we only got a couple of hours sleep each after inevitably staying up to watch the in-flight entertainment!) we got to our hotel on the super efficient train/subway very easily.
