After leaving the first campsite in France we went through to a place called St Maxime and stayed the night in a campsite for OAP swingers. (I can tell you we kept out van door firmly looked that night) this campsite too had a pool with no water and didn,t have the luxury of a an understocked supermarket for entertainment. so i asume this is the way they chose to keep themselves occupied at night. (each to there own i suppose or should that be each for each others?)
We left here promptly the next moring and headed for the coast (and my spiritual home) The Cote D'Azur. we headed first to St Tropez where i did my best impression of Bridget Bardot (or as best as I could sitting in a campervan with bikes strapped to the back and our 1980's awning strapped to the roof! i got a few looks though, not sure they were the type of look i was hoping for but a look none the less. after driving through St Tropez we decided not to stay in the sea front fantastic campsites (that we found the next day) but opted for a run down campsite in a residential area accessed via an industrial estate also with a pool lacking in water (there is a theme developing here)
The next morning we thought we might have better luck in Cannes. So we drove the beautiful coast road through to Cannes to find that the film festival was on and again we were surrounded by the rich and famous and of course we fitted straight in un-noticed. just one of the crowd. (not Quite). we spent a few hours milling around and looking for celebs (none to be seen) then headed to a campsite this one had a pool with water but no supermarket. Things are looking up.
after a luxurious night in a campsite with a pool with water (of which we did not use???!!) we headed for Monaco for more rich and famous people. (as we are so suited to this life style of course) we drove the beautiful coast road again and arrived in Monaco and straight on to the starting grid of the up coming Grand Prix. So of course we drove some of the Circuit and reach top speeds of almost 35 mph at some points! it was hairy i can assure you. It took us all of an hour to get round the track! and then we headed for the Italian Border.
