Where I stayed
What I did
Chaing Mai city was built over 700 years ago and was once an entirely walled square surrounded by a moat. Today it is a bustling yet very livable city with 1.5 million people; 80% of them being natives. A mecca for Buddhism with over 300 Wats in and around the city it is common to see monks swathed in orange walking alongside the parade of tourists on their way to the daily night market.
CM, as I call it, was a nice place to settle in for a couple of weeks and a great place to forge new friendships. Via CS I befriended Mah a native designer from CM who owns a beautiful boutique 11 Treasure Chiang Mai. If you get to CM, please visit her store and send my regards. Mah loves to be in the action and is another fine example of a CS member. She kindly leant me her push bike on occasion which offered me the freedom to explore a trendy new zone popular among expats called Nimmanhaemin. Here I was able to find an amazing "salad bar" and New York trained hair stylist. Ah the Western amenities.
I'll be back...
