Woken by both the cry for prayer and the terrible voice of the young local girl who resides in the building just over my bungalow, I was up early. I spent the first half of the day at Gili Café, enjoying breakfast on the beach and internet access. I started up a conversation with this gorgeous model woman next to me, Martine who is the girlfriend of the owner of the café. She is native Australian with three kids all under 16, who has been living in Bali for a few years and now considering relocating to Gili T. to be with the boyfriend. I admire her adaptability although I don't think Gili T. is the place I would choose to raise kids for any length of time.

Unable to locate a flight within Malaysia, I finally gave up on the internet and rented a bike for the remainder of the day. Like I mentioned before, due to large patches of deep sand, I felt like I was walking the bike more often than riding at times. But the back side of the island is definitely pristine and peaceful.

That evening I enjoyed some grilled mahi mahi, buffet salad, baked potato and chardonnay on the sand at Extrablatts before making my way back over to visit Novri at her restaurant. She invited me to some lovely chocolate mango cake as I sipped a local sparkling white.
