Ready at 8:00AM, Mark picked me up for the drive to Padang Bai. We arrived within an hour and a half, suited up and went for our first dive. The area where we dove is called Blue Lagoon and although pretty it was more about me managing my buoyancy than relaxing and enjoying the scenery. I felt like I was struggling a bit trying to get horizontal without shooting up to the shallow.

We did three dives today. In between lunch and getting me situated in a cute Bungalow style guesthouse at Kreti Bungalows.

The last dive of the day was to test the following skills: removing the mask, using Mark's regulator, my navigation skills and CESA (emergency ascent). Again not feeling as confident as I would like with my buoyancy Mark assured me that it would come with time.

Mark and his crew bid me farewell, returned to Seminyak and I wandered the island. There are supposedly a couple of nice beaches but they require a 20 minute trek in proper shoes and as it was getting late, I didn’t have time to fetch my shoes. Instead I admired the private temples and local decorations, until stopping for a nice pizza at Ozone Cafe. There I met a local dive shop owner who when I mentioned I was having an issue with my ear, he quickly fetched me some appropriate drops which immediately dried my ears up and have helped ever since.
