Flag of Egypt  , Red Sea and Sinai,
Sunday, June 12, 2011

I eventually resigned to the fact that Jordan was financially unrealistic, so I put a plan in place to extend my time in Hurghada. What a brilliant decision actually. I found a fantastic CSer who works at one of the top seven star resorts on the coast. He invited me to hang out at the resort all day, enjoy the amenities of the spa and then hooked me up with a colleague who hosted me for the night. This day of lounge chair and swimming in the crystal clear water of the Red Sea, combined with a massage, some pre-dinner drinks, delicious falafel and then dancing at the nightclub made any prior inconveniences disappear.

The nightclub experience shed major clarity on why the Egyptian men have the opinion that they do of any non-Arab women. First of all, Hurghada is filled with women from the Eastern Block: Russian, Ukranian, Czech and Polish women and every one of them in the club acted like prostitutes so naturally the men see it as an open invitation. Combined with their Muslim upbringing, they are persistent in their attempt to get intimate with foreign women.

The next morning I was scheduled to join the hotel dive company on a full day boat trip with snorkeling and lunch for a mere $25. That was fantastic. The water is exactly as you would imagine, and other than the octopus and bottom feeders I believe I saw just as much variety of fish and coral as the divers. The fascinating thing was watching the religious Muslim woman in her full arm, full leg, dress on top and head covering, snorkeling beside me. All in all I left Hurghada completely satiated. Thank you guys, who shall remain unnamed.
