Alaturk Cruise

In Selcuk, I pre-booked a three nights, four day cruise from Fethiye to Olympus. The next four days were spent on a wooden boat with 13 other travellers, including two girls from Quebec, four friends from NZ, two other Aussies, a family from Santa Cruz and a pair of Turkish honeymooners. Not to mention our Captain, skipper and cook. We spent the entire time eating, sleeping, drinking, dancing, swimming, playing cards, reading and relaxing. Actually the cycle was eating then swimming opportunity. I tried to tell them that my mom taught me that it was not good to swim right after eating but they didn't seem to care.

Along the way, we visited Kas, St. Nicholas Island, Kerkova and the Sunken City for a chance to stretch our legs, scale the ruins and shop. We might not have gotten the bigger, nicer boat but we definitely got the "party Captain." Turns out he is actually notorious for pumping up the volume all night and has no issue being fined for illegal stops at Pirate Cave and other snorkeling opportunities. The boat has 7 cabins but they were used mostly just to store our luggage, go to the bathroom and change our clothes since we all slept on the cushions on deck each night.

All in all it was a relaxing four days but I think next time I would opt for the 12 island day cruise out of Fethiye instead. Partly because the first day I suffered some sea sickness and by the end I looked like a native Mediterranean

The cruise was sold as landing in Olympus but in actuality they dropped us in Demere where we had to find our way to Antalya on our own. On a tight budget, since losing my ATM card I forked over the few dollars to store my bags for four hours, take the tram into the old city of Antalya and then back for the night bus to Neveshir.
