Today I met up with Oz again, jumping at the opportunity to go with him to his fancy sports club and get in a workout. After a fast paced four mile run, he put me through a leg workout. Which back in LA would still hurt but nothing compared to what I felt two days later, since not lifting weights in over two months. After the workout Oz invited me to some typical Turkish cuisine including a rare dessert. It had a chewy texture and if I had to guess, which I did, I would've thought tapioca but as it turned out it was made from chicken. Post dinner I had the pleasure of meeting Oz’s brother and watching the sunset from his terrace in Bebek. His brother also speaks very good English and had many questions about my proposed travels.
That night I headed back to Kadikoy to visit with Hamza and ultimately to grab my bags since I would be departing for the Aegean coast the next night. Hamza escorted me to the bus station, which even with his help was a nightmare. It seems the attendants at the local bus offices have a three question quota and lost their tolerance when I was desperate for answers, especially since the destination time and route that I had planned for was already sold out. Yes summer vacation officially started today.
No worries, I reversed the route and booked a midnight ticket to Cannakale instead.
