Today was Tom's day to be sick, poor guy!  Alanna was actually feeling better today after getting a prescription started last night.  She was up before anyone else and headed over to Flurries for breakfast.  We were all supposed to meet her there, but none of us could get moving before she got back, lol.  So, we kind of had a lazy morning with everyone sleeping in, but once we got up we didn't stop moving.

Heather & Tom went to three different banks trying to find a better place to exchange money before discovering the perfect place - Western Union, which is only just down the road from the Y.  The third bank was in the craziest location - down this back alley, then into a filthy walk up (to the third floor).  It totally looked like a war zone, and once we turned down the alley we regretted our decision - we were immediately followed by adult men asking for money to eat.  These were young, healthy looking men, so we decided to save our money for the kids.

Once we got the money exchanged we went to pay for the party room - but we just missed the priest so we planned on coming back later.  The sweetest little boy followed us there and back, I just wanted to pack him up & take him home with me.  Now he definitely looked hungry, so we decided to pull a "Joe" and get him some food from KFC.  On the way out we also snagged him a balloon, which he immediately smiled & jumped up and down for.  A little later we passed another hungry little boy so we bought him the same meal, only this time all the balloons had been put away, so we weren't able to give him one.

We spent a long time this afternoon/evening going over all of the finances with Christopher.  He had all of his expenses - and how he has spent the money, all documented for every month.  He also gave us copies of the kid's report cards from last year, and we discussed the best way to provide medical supplies for the families (tetnis shots, basic first aid kits, hand sanitizer, etc.).

Alanna's admirer from Flurries was going to come to the dump with us this evening to meet the families but it got too late for him to go.  He came and hung out with us at the Y for a long time though, he met Christopher and checked out the website, etc.  In addition to being a waiter, he also has his own cooking show on tv!, and as it turns out, he is in college studying Health and Nutrition Studies - hmmm, very interesting!  I am looking forward to seeing what becomes of this new person brought into our circle!

Earlier in the evening he called his father out of the blue and gave Alanna the phone so his dad could speak with her - omg!  He really likes her, lol!  He emphasized to her that his family comes from a very poor village and that he also cares about the plight of the poor.  As it turns out, his dad is a lawyer & quite wealthy, so I hope he decides to hep us out financially too, lol!
