This 'Italian Evening' ultraviolet acrobatic light, illusion and dance show (see the 'Mayamoon' link under shows on the Phoenix web site) was the chance for a quick glimpse inside the newly finished Raffles Hotel in Wafi City. Apparently Wafi's owner is just crazy about ancient Egypt - the enormous complex is a mix of modern Arabic and themed Egyptian antiquity. Huge pyramids and replicas of stone statues feature monumentally amongst the glass and steel of state-of-the-art architecture. The Raffles hotel is another very extravagant 5-star hotel in Dubai - built like a terraced pyramid with a tastefully styled interior. They had created a perfect black box for our uv show so the special uv colour effects had maximum impact.
