After months and months of planning and working with our fantastic travel agent, Patrick from African Encounter (based in New South Wales but only an email away!), we were finally on our way for a journey of a lifetime.

To get straight to the point - we had an absolutely AMAZING holiday! Loved every minute of it. We enjoyed a quiet few days in Victoria Falls to start the trip.  The hotel staff warned us to make sure our doors which opened onto green grass were kept locked and windows were always closed when we weren't in the room.  This was because the monkeys knew how to open them and would get inside and cause havoc!  We didn’t see the monkeys, but every day we had 4-5 warthogs that frequented the grassed area for a feed.  We also saw an antelope one day there as well which was a treat.  We walked with the lions at the Lion Encounter which we thoroughly enjoyed and did the high wire activities (flying fox, zipline and gorge swing) over the Zambezi river.  That was pretty scary but worth it for the experience.  We would recommend both experiences.  We enjoyed seeing the Falls, but were a bit underwhelmed by them.  We think that Iguacu in South America is more spectacular but we still really enjoyed seeing them and walking the length of them.  The sunset cruise was our first taste of African wildlife where we saw elephants, hippos, water buffalo, deer.  The sunset was stunning.
