It's happening!  The guys set sail this morning at 11:20 from Bucktown Marina in New Orleans for their long journey in the Gulf of Mexico, Mobile Bay, the Mobile River, the Tennessee River, the Tombigbee Waterway, to Nickajack Lake near Monteagle, TN.  Phew!  They've got a long row to hoe, but the journey should be filled with adventure and beautiful sights.

The weather was "crisp" (downright cold) and winds were "brisk" (gale force) as the boat was loaded and prepared.

Randall's wife, Star, proved that she is very clever with a sewing machine and made the guys their own individual koozies.

Now they have a new nickname, The Pickled Pirates.  :)

On hand to wish them Bon Voyage was Anne, Star, Sharon, Sherry, and Emly (me).

I don't think any of the guys are bringing razors with them, so take a good look at the "Before" pictures of the crew.

Don't they look calm, cool, and collected?  Do you think they really know what they're getting themselves into?

The motor started right up and without much ado the Perla back up, turned around, almost ran into a piling, turned around again, backed out of the canal, and motored away from the marina into Lake Ponchartrain.

And then they were off and things were looking better for the trip ahead.

We thought this would be the last we saw of the guys this morning, but alas there was to be another bit of adventure ahead!
