Where I stayed
Pagration Hostel, Athens
Delphi was a very interesting day trip from Athens. I went along with a load of people from my first hostel. There was an American, a couple of Kiwis, an Australian, a Singaporean and a Canadian, along with a whole load of others.
Delphi itself was stunning, in a very unusual location, 2500 metres up a mountain. The site was vast, one of the biggest I've ever been to, and the sheer number and size of buildings despite the locational problems that would have been involved in construction are testament to how important an archaeological site it is.
The attached museum was pretty good, and housed a lot of the things that have been found during the dig at the site, including the first Ancient Greek bronze statue ever found in modern excavations.
The story of the oracle is very interesting too, and if you're near a history book I urge you to look it up. My internet is about to run out so I will leave it at that. More updates, and definitely photos when I get to Crete!
