Where I stayed
Just a quick entry to document the happenings of Turin. Arrived last night in to the station, only to be immediately and thoroughly confused by the tram system. I was misdirected by 2 people before eventually coming across a very kind man who spoke little English but put me on the right tram, and even gave me a ticket, refusing to take payment when it was offered.
I eventually found the hostel, which is more like sharing a hotel room with 2 others rather than a dorm, and settled down for the evening.
Upon awaking this morning, I found that one of my fellow guests had buggered off. He must have been in a rush, because not only did he take all of his things, but he also mistakenly went in to the pocket of my coat (hanging on a hook) and accidentally stole my bloody wallet on his way out.
Luckily he only got away with about 25 euros, my drivers license and a debit card, so it wasn't such a huge loss (I keep my credit cards separate and by me all the time.) The thing I lost the most however, was time. I spent almost the entire day either cancelling cards, ordering new ones or sitting in police stations waiting to be interviewed by people who speak even less English than I do Italian.
Eventually it was all sorted though, so I decided to cheer myself up with a trip to the Museum of the Risorgimento, which was ...closed for renovation. By that point I had had enough of wandering around central Turin, so I headed back to my hostel, where I proceeded to walk 15 minutes to a Launderette.
All in, probably not the best day of my trip so far, but I had a cracking pizza and chips for 6 euros for dinner, and some lovely melon ice cream in Turin.
Turin is a lovely town to walk around, too...
Off to Genoa tomorrow, hopefully nothing will be stolen between now and then.

Comments
*hugs* Probably a crocodile will gnaw off his leg tomorrow.
Well, you've seen the best and the worst of human nature all in one day. Still, could have been much worse, and you did have some Italian melon ice cream so it wasn't ALL bad.
You left your wallet in your coat on the back of the door in a SHARED room?! I would've judged the guy if he HADNT taken it! You DOOF!
Sucks about the cancel cards and what-not... never fun!
It was literally the first time as well. Last time, too, I guess.
major bummer dude. least it worked out. good forewarning about the lack of English though - best start learning Italian now rather than later I suppose, I don't wanna be like Brad Pitt's role in Inglorious Basterds
I'm sorry your wallet got nicked, thankfully he didn't get away with all your funds! xx
Try leaving a mousetrap in your pocket if you have to take your eyes off your coat again.
