Just a quick update on the journey over from Ireland. The ferry was 19 long hours. I had only got a seat reserved, which meant that I had a choice of sleeping sat up like some kind of seaborne grandad or laying out flat on the floor and ruining my neck. In the end I chose the floor, but both were pretty poor substitutes for a bed.
I watched Get Him to the Greek in the onboard cinema, and I think it may even have ended up cheaper than if I had watched it in a cinema back home! Besides that, everything else was a royal scam, with expensive food, expensive drinks and expensive everything else. I got 4 or so hours sleep in the end, so it wasn't too bad, but bits of me are still complaining about sleeping on such a hard surface.
When the ferry journey was (finally!) coming to an end, I was talking to an Australian (yes, more of them...) couple about getting trains, when an irish lady overheard us and interjected, telling us that the French transport operatives were on strike.
Honestly, they'll find any bloody excuse, won't they?
Luckily, there was still a train to Paris available, which I got but it was later than I expected, so I ended up rolling in to my hostel at around 11.30.
I will post an update about Paris, or more accurately, Disneyland and Versailles, when I get to Reims in a couple of days.
Until then, I just have to hope that Mickey and Minnie don't suddenly feel the need to come out in support of their brothers in the transport union...

MAN UP!
Worse things happen at sea.
I thought knowing about the French public service strikes was part of your detailed preparation, Paddy. ;-)
Nice to see you're having fun, though.
