Itīs easy to feel sensory overload on Espanola - the island is teeming with life! We followed a long walking trail across the island to some cliffs, where there were hundreds of sea birds soaring and diving.

All along the trail were nests of blue-footed boobies, masked boobies and my favourite - albatross. I was hoping to see an albatross on this trip - I saw LOTS including chicks which are very cute. It was funny to watch them flapping their wings getting practice for when they must go over the edge of the cliff and take to the air - Espanola is one of the few places in the world that these amazing birds actually land - in November, they will all leave the island and spend months at sea, almost never landing on the water - incredible!

We also got to spend a few hours realxing on a beach on the other side of the island, where we were outnumbered by the sea lions! Again, we could snorkel there, and it was so much fun snorkelling with sea lions! One of the best things I have ever done I can say.  The young sea lions are the most playful and will come right up to you, doing somersaults, nibbling at your fins and blowing bubbles in your face! They are so agile under the water, in total contrast to their clumsy movements on land.
