Original plan is to head to the Northeast - maybe New England, maybe Adairondaks. So, we hop onto I-81 in pouring rain. several hours later, I decided that interstates in the rain are just not worth the misery. Picked up a map in Bristol VA. Water got into everything and we eventually got off I-80 in Marion VA. I forgot why (probably me whining) but we turned south and headed by twisting back roads to Boone NC.
Heading into town we got separated for a bit and I toured the college town's center while Pete headed to the hotel area. We got checked in and had a great stay (jaccuzzi, laundry, dry clothes, good mexican restaurant).
