After a restful night, we checked out of Girl Scouts' Pax Lodge and headed for the airport shuttle stop. We had an extra hour or so before our scheduled pick-up, so as we were walking the neighborhood as Madison said, "leave it to American women to find a shopping mall," which we did.
Then on to the London Luton airport for the next flight, going to Paris. Thank you, Lori, for the Speedy Boarding tip ~ what a difference it made!
Walking through the CDG Paris airport I realized this was the first place I’ve been where the language was more “something else” than English
We boarded at 8:45 p.m., so we were able to see some of the French countryside. There’s lots of green grasslands, small villages with French-style chateau houses, and the land is pretty flat ~ not many hills for this Tennessee gal. However, the sun did not set until 10:30 p.m.
Upon arriving in Bayeux at 11 p.m., we were met by Jean-Marc Bacon, the director of the Normandy tour we had scheduled for tomorrow. He informed us that his driver was ill and we would not be able to take the tour with him. Disappointed, we went on to the Aggarthi Bed & Breakfast where we were to spend the night. Miriam, the innkeeper, met us with grand hospitality, especially for so late at night. We informed her of our tour cancellation and she personally walked us to town about three blocks away to show us where to get another tour. So we’ll try there in the morning.
God has blessed us with excellent weather, helpful people, and wonderful hospitality thus far. Merci!
