Where I stayed
Dongzhimen golden pinapple youth hostel
Saturday afternoon we left Shenyang...we came to Beijing 4 hours later and it was almost dawn already...
Eventhough we supposed to have 5 kilos in our backpacks, of course we had more...around 15 kilos each?! and we were onlly traveling for 2 weeks...but its true we went from north where there was still winter, to south where there was summer already...so we needed a lot of different clothes...
So of course we've been to Beijing before, so we knew a couple of hostels already, but we wanted to try something new...so we decided to look for a hostel near Dongzhimen, because from there we could take a fast train to airport easily...
So we are standing at Dongzhimen already, we are on the right street, but there's just no Pinapple Youth hostel...and no number 18. We are searching and searching, we cannot find it...We are asking locals, they also dont know about any hostel...then we luckily meet a Chinese who happens to be a lawyer...so he was very decisive to help us and at the end, after maybe one hour and a half walking up and down the street, we've finally found it!
Hostel is nice, it looks new, or maybe they renovated it for the Olympics. New rooms, new furniture, new bathrooms...well for people who are just travelling together but are not actually a couple, there can be some problem, because bathrooms are in glass so everything is see-through=)
After a long day, we decided to go to Tiananmen square jsut to walk around...A lot of people as usual...not so cold as in Shenyang. after that we went to Wangfujing street, where all the shops are and all the food possible...
When u need a book in english, there's the best bookstore for foreigner at Wangfujing street and they have all kinds of Lonely planets there..but its true that u cant find it for China, which is a little bit odd, dont you think?!
It was really windy that day so we decided to go and sleep soon, because next morning we had a flight to Hangzhou at 6 in the morning, so we had to wake up at 4, to egt to the airport at the right time...
