It has been extremely busy here at the Mount. Everyone told us it can get a little crazy. There are lots of people around, the shops and restaurants and packed and the beach is full. Summer is in full swing so there is lots going on.
We golfed on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. We have played a few games lately with a high school teacher who is on summer break and a gentleman from Scotland who has great one liners and is a lot of fun to play with.
Tuesday we had a little rain so it was a quiet relaxing day. We made our way into nearby Tauranga for a few hours in the afternoon.
A huge beach volleyball tournament was held at the beach Wednesday and Thursday. 18 courts were set up and there were some great matches to watch.
New Years Eve was an event! Around 40,000 people made there way to the Mount for the evenings activities. Two stages were set up, one on the street and one on the beach and live music played all evening. Food venders and rides for the kids were also set up on the street. The usual 12:00 fireworks lit up the sky and capped off a great night.
This week has been pretty relaxing other then New Years Eve as we have stayed away from the really busy places and have spent a lot of time at the beach. A few evening strolls and some great sunsets have made for a nice week.
This week looks to be much the same as we have some golf booked, plan on some afternoons on the beach and we will take in a few of the beach activities. The weather is heating up and we are definitely using up lots of sunscreen. The UV index has been around 12 lately. Our friends from BC arrive this weekend and we are looking forward to seeing them again!
