Our stay in Dallas was short and sweet as it was just we were flying to Jamaica in a couple of days. We stayed at this backpackers that was pretty cool and the owner, Carlos was really nice as he drove us to the post office and showed us around the small suburb of Dallas called West Irving. It was absolutely freezing there at the time, I can remember thinking that even Niseko wasn't even this bloody cold!!

On the one free day that we had to look around we took the one public train that goes from Dallas to Fortworth. We went to Dallas and to be honest there wasn't much there. Carlos had told us about both towns and he suggested that Fortworth was the better town of the two. So after a short walk around the train station in Dallas we jumped back onto the train and went to Fortworth.

Fortworth was great. It was like stepping back into the wild west (except with cars of course). We looked around the streets and in the many shoe stores that sell really expensive boots. Some were more that $2000 for a pair of boots. Must of been made of some rare animal! We checked out the "Steers" that go parading through the town twice a day, re-enacting a cattle drive. Shell being inspired by the boots picked up a pair of anaconda skinned boots from this little second hand store. Carlos recommended that we should go to this place called "Billy Bobs" which was supposed to be the largest pub in the whole world. It was massive with a bull riding area, 30 something bars and heaps of country and western memorabilia. Even Jonny Cash's hand prints in concrete. We had some great steaks and ribs with some cold beers at this great streak house and grabbed the next train back to Irving.
