I was given the use of a car after this; with Carole beside me navigating I concentrated on staying on the right hand side of the road
. Tuesday was a lovely day we went up into the Nth Georgia Mountains to the little town of Helen. Bavarian style shops and eateries were along the pretty streets. The river snaked around the township and many riding rubber tubes across the gentle rapids. On the way back we stopped into the home of the Cabbage Patch Kids, "Babyland" what a lovely place, there is the nursery with the babies in the humidicribs; there are babies with their heads popping out of the cabbages, and various sections with all the stages of development. All the staff dress in Doctors' and Nurses' uniforms to complete the story. What a delight it would be for a young girl (and us old ones).
Thankfully the driving was successful; we had more time with Becky out on the Lake Lanier in a speed boat. Mooring at a local restaurant, and sailing by many islands. The lake is extremely large with lots of inlets and coves, golf course along the edge and nearly every hole you had to hit over water. (I know where my balls would be found). We stayed that night at a hotel near to the airport to avoid the rush hour traffic in the morning. It was very sad to say Bye; hopefully we will see them both again soon.
Continuing our stay in Atlanta, Monday we were taken to Stone Mountain, very interesting place, actually an amusement park on weekend and school holidays. We did not venture into the area where all the rides are. We rode up to the top of this large granite monolith and walked around up there. On the face of this rock there are huge carvings of the Confederate Generals, the man that initially designed this carving went on to work on the project of the American presidents at Mount Rushmore. We drove around by the Chatahoochee River, lovely scenery and listened to the music played by the Carillion. This tower is set on a small island, the music echoes across the water. Across the walkway, there is a glass enclave where the organist sits to play the music. Cajun restaurant for dinner, different food, enjoyable though.
