Wednesday was the day we were all dreading: our last day in the beautiful city we call home.  We had our last classes that morning, so Liz and I started the day off right with a nutella croissant, something I will definitely miss back in the States.  Then the four roomies walked through the leather market for the last time and went to our favorite sandwich shop (which I have mentioned on here many times) Salumeria Verdi.  The owner has come to recognize us when we come in and even knows our orders without us saying a word.  As we relished every delicious bite, we reminisced on all of our good times in Florence on Via Ghibellina.  That sounds super cheesy, but we loved laughing about all of the memories we have made here and the people we have met.
After lunch, we went to cross a few must-see things off our list.  We climbed the tower attached to the Duomo to get a stunning view of the city.  We wanted to save this for our last day so that we would recognize many of the things around us.  We had fun pointing out our favorite spots andour main stomping grounds.  Even though it was quite a hike, with over 400 stairs in a cramped, dark passage, it was definitely worth it once we reached the top.
We then went to the Accademia to see Michelangelo's David.  Although I have seen many copies of the sculpture in various places around Florence, it was amazing to see it in person.  It is hard to believe that one person could create something so huge and intricate.
Afterwards, we went back to the apartment and got ready for dinner.  We headed out with a group of 12 girls to a place across the street from our apartment.  It was delicious and a great way to end our month in Firenze.
