Because I am supposed to have my shooting done by Monday for my video story, I frantically ran out to find one this morning after class. I headed to the Paperback Exchange, a little independent bookstore where everyone speaks English. I set up an interview with the owner on Thursday. I'm a little nervous because they are all American so I won't have to actually speak to Italians, but they do live in Italy and have owned the shop for over 30 years so hopefully it will do. If I find something better I can always explore that, but it's nice to have this as a backup.
Yesterday we were walking to dinner and stumbled upon a large crowd gathered on the street. We look to the other side and see cameras and men dressed in security uniforms. Yes, we had stumbled upon the Jersey Shore house. No sightings of Snookie yet, but I'm thinking it won't be long. Dinner was great- I had an arugula salad with tuna and a veggie pizza. Pretty much my first full serving of vegetables in two weeks. Sorry Mom.
Ali and I went by the grocery store yesterday and spent about 20 minutes trying to decide what soda to buy. Nothing is free here at restaurants- not even the water- so sodas generally run about three euro...aka about $4.50 for a small can. The grocery store has them for about 60 cents so we were practically salivating when we were trying to decide which kind to get. (I got Coke Zero btw)
Also got coconut gelato yesterday...Dad would be proud. Gelato is pretty much an everyday thing here, so I will probably have withdrawals when I leave Italy.
If you are wondering what the today's title means, it is an Italian phrase meaning "the sweetness of doing nothing." New mantra? I think so.
