Broome seems to be the destination most people are heading for as they go north up the West Coast of Oz. Once the world's centre of the pearl industry it's now become one of Australia's must do destinations - in no small part to Calbe Beach which is apparently regularly voted one of the world's top 5 beaches.

We stayed here for three nights in a caravan park overlooking the Indian Ocean. The campervan was parked literally feet away from the high tide line and was an amazing setting.

Of course we spent the day at Cable Beach which although has golden sands, fantastic pounding surf and crystal blue waters lacks the appeal of Crosby's Beach's Iron Men!

Just to the south of the beach is Gantheaume Point which is a rocky headland with bizarre rock formations sculptured by the tide and is well worth a visit.

Broome is still pretty small though is relatively touristy though the town centre has a certain charm about it. All in all it's a good place to stop off and chill for a few days though I'm not sure I'd have wanted to drive the 3500 km for this to be my ultimate destination.
