We headed out from lovely cabin #3 to Monteverde.  We had to wrap around the lake and take some of the worst roads we've ever seen.  Prius size potholes with gaggles of gusts of wind.

On the ride out we saw a strange animal neither of us had seen before.  Its called a coatimundi?  A friendly little fella in the raccoon family.  I pulled over and checked it out for a little while.  It seemed tame.  Maybe the coatimundi will be the next pot belly pig for the states to domesticate.

There isn't much to the town and the weather was bad.  We headed to town in search of some lunch.  We found a japanese restaurant and we were both exited for some sort of asian food.  If we go a week without chopsticks we go into a sort of depression.  Sheena got some nabeyaki udon noodles and I ordered a mixed boat of sushi and sashimi.  The chef was very nice and we were his only customers so he took his time to make a nice presentation.

Power knocked out while he was preparing everything.  Its sushi so its not that big of a deal, but we did manage to lose the new age music he was playing.  Little victories.

At best I can give it an ok.  The rice was thick and heavy.  There were these dense heavy footballs of rice under the cuts of fish that were inedible.  I tried to make a rice man out of the heavy footballs but Sheena scolded me.  We ate the fish off the blobs and that was ok.  Its hard, how the hell do you get soy sauce and wasabi to the middle of the damn jungle?  I'm impressed the guy was trying.

I had an epiphany about Costa Rican food.  We keep talking about how bad the food is.  The thing is, the food - the NATURAL food - is incredible.  Have a banana - it will grab other bananas in a head lock and make them cry uncle.  Do the same for pineapple, coconuts, papaya, guava, strawberries, etc...  The fruit is great everywhere.

If you were a Veg or a Vegan, there are great fruits and vegetables.  We are now trying to look at the cup as half full and are going to shut up and eat fruit.

The cooking is not good.  Want to know how I can prove the cooking sucks?  Find a Costa Rican restaurant in your neighborhood.  Find a Costa Rican Restaurant in New York, Chicago, or LA.  IF you can find one (which I doubt), go there!  See if you will ever go back if you have any other option afforded to you.

We checked out the town to see what it had to offer.  Lots of tours but not much else...

We did see a rainbow.  Im pretty positive I have seen more rainbows in the last 11 days then I've seen in any given year.

We headed back to the hotel and the temperature dropped quite a bit.  The rain and wind picked up and was hitting our "rustic" accommodations with force.   Sheena was bummed out because she booked the hotel and the weather was really sucking.  She said hell with it and that we should just bail altogether and head to the coast.

I talked her down a bit and calmed her down.  I kind of want to check out the coffee farms here and there is sugar cane production that I'd like to see.  I'm a nerd for that stuff.  I find it interesting and I love coffee so hopefully we will check that out tomorrow.

We may do the original zip line trip on thursday.  I think its funny that Jimmy Carter took that tour.  If hanging by your gonads whizzing from tree to tree is good enough for the 39th President of the United States....

I hope the weather breaks a bit.  This place is supposed to be great for nature and Sheena wanted to check things out here.  We are forced in for the night with the howling wind and the power dropping out.  Aww well

We are gonna turn in (if the roof stays on) and hope for better weather tomorrow.

Sheena just wants to add that the wind is howling and the way the rain hits, it sounds like waves pounding....she also says she's freeeeeezing!
