We had all been to Las Vegas and seen the hotel of the same name so set off to see what THAT was all about. Bellagio is on the tip of the land between the two limbs of Como which is an inverted vee shape. The "white road" was a bit hairy in places with narrow stretches and impatient white van drivers but after we were about 5km from our site, the ambience changed completely becoming far more pleasant.Chris summed it up “A welcome surprise after the road clinging to the cliff, a gem”The shops were nice but expensive. Americans and Swiss and the Beautiful People only need try to get in.

However, like the rest of the places we've been to, the gelateria were on every corner. The narrow cobbled streets, disappearing upwards in series of steps is our totally typical Italian villagescape.

As you can see from the pictures the town is a fantastic environment. Boats are constantly arriving and departing for other towns on the lake and we had a great afternoon completely changing our impression of the area.

As you can see from the pictures, this is quite a chic town yet everything has to come in by two very narrow roads or the ferry (that didn't stop the ice cream being good)

On our return after some shopping for tea, we decided that whilst the site is not perfect (what is?) Marco's guys had been back with the canopy to shade us from the Hot Sun. It was now a good base for our stay to “do” Como (Phew!)
