It was so hot.   You need to have at least a day to see Pompeii and early morning or late afternoon would be best to visit.  Our guide tried to avoid the busier areas and therefore we didn't get to see alot that I wanted and when we had free time, it was just too hot (no shade) and I was about to faint.  It is was a bit eery,  hard to imagine a whole town buried beneath the ash of the Volcano.

It was a shame to see many of the relics of Pompeii locked in a shed with a wire fence so that you can see them.  It would be great to see a museum, which tells the full story of Pompeii and details the relics and their past use.

We were surprised at the number of dogs wandering the streets in the area.  We were told that dogs can sense an eruption so they prefer to have them around.

The roads in Naples amazed us.  Many had been built above the buildings as they had run out of space at ground level.
