Yay – short drive day. Crossed the equator. Arrived in Queen Elizabeth national park by late morning. The park lis on the border of Congo. Had a laze around and then an afternoon cruise on the Kazinga Channel. Brilliant time – we saw two very new baby hippos – never imagined seeing that; watched elephants; watched crocs watching hippos J - there was so much wildlife surrounding us!!!! We watched fisherman in a local village unload their catch. Just a very tranquil but visually full cruise.

Our tour guide warned us there was a hand reared elephant that had been released into the wild but still visits with camp site and that w should also expect hippo, hyena and warthogs through the amp during the night. Peeing right outside your tent only and one person on the watch.  Alright! Sounds like my sort of camp ground!

We had ugali (traditional maize dish) with a beef stew for dinner and spent hours by the camp fire roasting marsh mellows and eating popcorn while listening to the African cook and the tour leader (20years experience) gross stories abour close encounters with wildlife, deaths on tour and parasitic and medical stories – good fun. I stayed up as late as I could to see hippos but had to drag myself to bed eventually.

I got up heaps of times during the night when the hippos sounded really close and would scan my light across the camp grounds and bushes but no luck L I did see a wildcat tho which was great (we found foot prints and guinea fowl feathers in the camp kitchen in the morning). The warthog ignored us and they wandered around our tents. Im having a ball.
