Checked into the Secret Garden today after they were full yesterday, a very cool little hostel in town with an incredible rooftop patio overlooking the old city. Ecuador is going to be very cheap and give the budget a nice soft start (just finished a massive two course meal with fresh juice for $1.50). El Español is coming back relatively quickly and I´m really looking forward to improving. Not much else to report at the moment, the true exploring starts today. I hope to update this every couple of weeks at the least, but I guess we´ll see!
All my best to all of you,
Well then, here I am! Just a short note to get this thing rolling and get everyone the address. After 27 hours of travelling/attempting to sleep in airports, meeting up with Mark in the Costa Rica airport, and one last harrowing, mountain dodging, gravity defying approach in to Quito, we´re here safe and sound. People in LA suck - people in Costa Rica were awesome (I spent more than enough time in each airport, believe me). Quito is AMAZING. With the world heritage site old city climbing the hill to the south and a sparkling new city in the north, it appears there is more than enough here to keep us occupied for a little while as we adjust to the altitude and what not. Mark (or Marko Caliente as I´ve decided to introduce him to people) has just been in Central America and Mexico for 5 months or so, and hasn´t been home to Aus in a year and a half so South America should come fairly easily to him, I haven´t been out of Canada in nearly two years though so give me a couple days to get my travellers legs under me!
