Our final day in Noosa found us in the mosh pit of a local concert on the beach near the town center. Sandy repeatedly climbed on the stage and hurled herself into the crowd. Unbelievable...OK truth is, we were huddled under small trees enjoying the meager shade that was available. We did, however, find ourselves tapping our feet to the sounds of a local artist named Diesel.
From Noosa we headed inland Northwest to the home of another Servas host named Cheryl. She has an amazing home on 60 acres somewhere in the hills between Cooran and Gympie. Over the last 20 years or so, she has built a wonderful self-sufficient oasis in the forest. Her home uses solar panels for most of her electrical needs, and water is captured from the roof when it rains. She also grows tons of fruit and veggies. It was in her garden that we saw the largest python we have ever seen outside the confines of a zoo. We were rather excited about the 6 foot creature, but it was merely common place for her. We spent our last evening with Cheryl dining and listening to talks at a nearby Tibetan Buddhist Monastery.
After leaving Cheryl's enclave, we travelled by bus to Eumundi. We landed a spartan but clean cabin at a caravan park by 10 a.m. and walked into town for the Wednesday market. Though Eumundi is quite small (pop. 500), it hosts a very large and popular market on Wednesday and Saturday each week. The market covers several acres and has booths with local produce, arts and crafts, musicians, and an inordinate number of massage tables and tarot card readers. It was new age in a town where one would expect meat pies and missing teeth. By early afternoon, we had seen what the market offered and stuffed ourselves at an "all you can eat" vegetarian buffet hosted by the resident Krishna's. Once the market closed for the day, the town was virtually empty.
We will post photos soon (just need to get to a computer that will allow it).

TIPS FOR TRAVELLERS:
The Sunbus bus system is quite good. Easy traveling even between small towns and fares are reasonable.
Eumundi Caravan park (1/2 North of town) has good campsites ($16 AUD) and cabins with kitchens ($60 AUD).
Krishna's Cafe has great food (all you can eat) for $8 AUD.

Yo!
Hey Sandy and Chris,
Sounds like you are mixing it up nice with staying with folks, camping, and renting rooms. I love your travel tips! Be careful in the surf of Australia....I lost my pants once in the water. HA!
All is good in Seattle. A few changes at work...wont go into detail here. It's all good!
Have you had a Fosters yet?
