My flight was the usual; I slept almost the entire way. I did have a nice talk with a man I met in the airport in Frankfurt. He is a security consultant for US embassies all over the world. He didn't tell me a whole lot about his job, but from what I understand, he basically travels to obscure places to help ensure that the security at each embassy is up to par. He was telling me about all of the places he has worked; most recently, Johannesburg and most impressively, Baghdad. The most memorable thing about our conversation is the way he described sitting on the lawn outside of the Eiffel Tower. He told me that when I make it to Paris, I need to find a little shop that sells wine and cheese, grab a blanket, sit on the lawn and watch the sunset. It sounds perfect. Someday soon....
Until then, I am on my way home for a couple of jam-packed weeks of fun. Visits with family and friends, doctors appointments and preparing to be maid-of-honor in my friends Nick and Katie's wedding should keep me plenty busy.
