We wander down to the reception porch in search of complimentary coffee and are greeted by the motel owner, who seems wide awake, like he's been testing his beverages for hours. I am greeted by "Ah Mister Bark" as I'm scouting the room for the coffee flask. We discuss travels, Kathy and I are going our separate ways today, I'm going to Chile and she back to London. The owner asks her to give his regards to her majesty.  He tells us he's travelled, when his father was in the navy, he discusses the Prado in Madrid and the joy of jetlag. I should be alright as I'm travelling south but Kathy is really going to feel it flying east.  We tell him about the Old Laundry House and the woman from Room 9. Of the bar he says "Wow, am I glad to see you guys!", of the wonman he continues "You must think I'm running a flophouse". Evidently its not the first time shes not made it across the threshold.

After checking out of the Harbor View Inn we backtrack to Half Moon Bay to buy stamps from the cavernous post office.

It's soon time to head for the airport and we are driving north on the Pacific Coast highway before turning inland at Serramonte to pick up the Junipero Serra freeway.

The guy at the car return congratulates us for bringing the car back empty, and hence maximising our non refundable fuel purchase at the start of the hire. I think he quietly cursed us as soon as our backs were turned. We take the shuttle back into SFO to find that Kathy's flight is delayed. She was due to be flying first but now it seems it will be me. As I am taking an internal flight to Dallas for my connection to Santiago my check in time is shorter than Kathy's. She still has to check in before I do but we a little more time together. We visit Subway where the server is very rude and but the corn chowder very nice. We part at 2.48pm, its very hard to do.  I stand and watch Kathy until she is through security and out of sight before leaving the International terminal. My own flight is on time as it taxis out to the runway I see that VS020 is still on he ground. The flight to Dallas is smooth but there's no free food on board, very dissapointing for a two and a half hour flight.
