So it has been a whole year since Shaun had placed a sharp razor to his manly face, aiming to be clean shaven for a his last day of work. This therefore announces the first anniversary of 'the travelling growth'. He has done it, 'the travelling growth' has lasted a year, with limited trims and numerous names, Shaun has withstood the good, the bad and the ugly of what I like to call 'the travelling growth'.
Over the last year we have been to a number of countries. Throughout the world, because of 'the travelling growth', Shaun has been called many names. In Cuba he was called Che Guevera, Fidel Castro and Wayne Rooney??? Off to the UK where the local North Yorkshire folk nick named him Furry Face. Then in Scotland, I couldn't help but call Shaun 'Hamish the Highland Cow', of course due to 'the travelling growth'.
Off to Turkey and 'the travelling growth' was Shaun's downfall, literally being told he was not welcome in Turkey as he was not clean shaven. The holy land served Shaun well, being nick named Jesus. While onboard the cruise our new friends looked at Shaun's passport and stated, without the travelling growth, he looks like Wayne Rooney.
'The travelling growth' was serving Shaun well, not only for names, but food as well. A favourite saying of Shaun's is if food is left in his beard, 'That's for Ron' (later on). In Turkey on several occasions, 'the travelling growth' was treated to turkish delight and delicious baklava, yum!
Once we returned to the UK, Shaun had decided that a little trim here and there had come to an end for 'the travelling growth'. It was time for 'the travelling growth' to really become of age and grow.....out of control!
So finally off to Africa we went, first stop Morocco. In Morocco, 'the travelling growth found its finest hour of fame. Everywhere we went in Morocco, Shaun would be called Ali Baba. This served him well, getting bargains in the market, be shown around the Fez medina and hanging out with the locals. Ali Baba was famous and 'the travelling growth' in Morocco was unforgettable!
On the first anniversary of 'the travelling growth', we cheers its' achievements with beer to slurp and dinner crumbs for 'Ron'. As we look forward to another year of 'the travelling growth', I wonder how it will transform and what stories it will bring in the future.
