The day started off with clear skies at the waterfront. Slowly the fog creeped in.
The colourful buildings are noted as Jelly Bean. Nice contrast during the foggy wintery seasons.
Up on Signal Hill, the fog was present so we spent an hour or so in the welcome center. When we left, the sky was clear again.
Signal Hill is a hill which overlooks the city of St. John's and the harbour. The fort was built in the mid 1600's.
From the 1600's until 1960, flags were used to signal the comings and goings of ships and other traffic. Some flags warned of attacks and others communicated commercial ships were entering. Other flags warned of storms.
