We arrived after two flights and no sleep.  Tough going I can tell  you.  left Dublin on the Thursday and arrived 2pm your time on the Friday, but it was 10pm here.

So we had two flights of about 7 hours each and a 3 hour stop in Abu Dhabi. Well I was so tired cos on the plane you watch films and they keep feeding you dinner, drinks and coffee. In the airport, I just lay down on the carpet and had a rest.  Before you know it you are on the flight again 6am to 2pm your time Friday and eating meals again. But it was 10 pm when we got to Singapore. The hotel was lovely and they gave us a lovely corner suite with a view of the river which is where all the life was going on. The next day, we went for breakfast at the Hawkers market. That's where they serve all the authentic foods and you just grab a seat in the middle and sit down. They were all locals but the heat was oppressive and I felt sick cos they were serving pigs intestine and trotters, so what did I have? Two fried eggs. Couldn't get any toast though.  Then the skies opened and you should have seen the rain.  Cooled the place down though.

So Singapore was all right but nothing exciting - though they do do Christmas and I got a dress for 2.50. What was funny though, the first morning the bloody phone rang so loud and while I was trying to work out if it was my mobile, Alan jumped up and was standing by the bed, even though he could have answered it more easily without getting up. It was the damn travel rep at 8.30 am wanting to speak to us in the bar. Alan told him in his ever polite way that we were ok as we had “an itinerary”. Anyway, that was the evening we went out at midnight and never got back til 3am. And wouldn't you know, the phone rang at 8.45 – at the other side of the room, so up he gets again. It was a refund from the taxi company who never came to get us, so he said we would collect it later. 20 minutes later, they were banging on the door shouting “room service” every 5 seconds. Alan grabbed a komono style (but very cheaply made) robe from the bathroom. Sean Connery had nothing on him – you can imagine I'm sure.

So we left there on the Sunday night.

Here are a few snaps of our stop over in Singapore. I think the best thing about this place is the huge variety of food. You got small portions and a huge selection and it is all very cheap. Beer is dear though. :/ Very western and they really go to town on the Christmas decorations. Very hot and humid too.

Love this photo. You both look great and so happy. The background reminds me of a photo of me and Dierdre in surfers paradise. You are so lucky to be on the trip of a lifetime so take it all in and really enjoy it. The memories last forever.
