The coolest homestay!

We scored THE best homestay in Weyer for the Powerman Austria race (23 August).  The family we stayed with had a 4* Pension in the hills.  We got to share the guest cottage with a French couple - Andy the Frenchie was racing too.  The family have been there for 150 years and 3 generations now live there.  It is also a working dairy farm and has fruit trees - they have some serious land.  The Grandfather was hysterical he makes his own cider and Schnaps (10 varieties) and according to the grandson spends most of his time pizzled.  He is 82 is totally clued up and still hoons around in the car and tractor.  He tried to get the boys into the alcohol before the race!  But they had to wait till after race day to indulge.  Riener - the grandson works for one of Europes best Chocolate makers, he brought us a selection to try.   The parents were fantastic also and we had fun sitting around chatting...and drinking with them on our last night.

Race day was fine and not too hot, well for us down in the town, unfortunately it rained in the mountains during the duathlon.  Distance was 15.6km run, 82km ride and 7.6km run...or close too it.  Check out the pics and video...apologies for my terrible commentary.  Stephanie (frenchie) and I were yelling at Jarrad during transition 'GET ON YOUR FUCKING BIKE' (in best French accent)  Stephanie was amazed by Jarrads 'colourful' conversational language, and thought it was pretty funny to support him with profanities! Perhaps bit of location joke....anyway we were loud enough and slightly put Jarrad off his game.  In the end he did great, finished 16th in large Mens Elite feild.

Weyer is beautiful, quite a bit like Switzerland - very green and beautiful, we had a day to explore after the race.  It rocks having a car, so much freedom.  Was a bit sad to leave, but Vienna was awaiting us.

Lucky we caught the last week of the Vienna film festival that runs for 64 days - so the city had an extra cool vibe.  Vienna is full of amazing buildings and is easy and compact to get about.  We hired couple of bikes and hooned about.

Budapest, Hungary next - again a beautiful city on the river.  We stayed two nights...ahhhh luxury of hotels after sleeping in a van.  It was stinking hot (mid 30's) and would have been unbearable anyway.

Today we arrived in Bratislava, Slovakia today.  A much quieter city - only about 500,000 people here.  Nice change of pace after the hustle and bustle of Budapest.

So we think that the Vienna, Budapest and Bratislava are the closest 3 capital cities in
Europe - super easy to get to, part of the beauty of Europe!

Anyway we hope you enjoy the pics and video, next move is back to Czech in next couple of days via??? Not sure - but the Tom Tom is a bloody god send.  Powerman Zofighen in Switzerland is next weekend, Jarrad could be competing its about twice as long as the Austria race - OUCH.

Cheerio for now
