We're having a great time but haven't had time to stop and write or post photos. And I'm taking a ton of them. This country of ours is amazing. Everyday we have fascinating encounters and see amazing beauty...or some freakin' weird shit!
To summarize so far - Colleen flew into Connecticut about 2 weeks ago and we picked up the RV and drove to Georgia to get Jordan. We high-tailed it through Alabama, Louisiana and Mississippi before hitting Texas. Although we did stop for a night to experience the wonder of New Orleans. We also sped through Texas...literally. The Texas state police don't give you a break if your a former Peace Corps Volunteer. Things really slowed down when we got to New Mexico (ROSWELL!) and Arizona. We have seen a lot, traded the RV for a rental car and are now kicking back in the City of Sin. We'll leave here tomorrow and finally get to California to see Brandy.
Along the way, we've always asked if a discount is available for Peace Corps Volunteers. The answer is usually that we only get a discount if we are active military. Well, not quite. RV parks have given a discount. And a wonderful woman at the Hoover Dam gave us a discount and chatted us up for a while. Response to what we've been doing for the last 2 1/2 years is very interesting.
