Where I stayed
We are staying at a nice guesthouse (Father's Guesthouse, US$30 per night with a bathroom) that overlooks the town and has a cafe, movie room and very nice travellers we've enjoyed exchanging stories with. This is one of those guesthouses and towns where more educated travelers come because it's a bit off the typical tourist track. We didn't see any package tourists and not many typical young backpackers.
Although there's not too much to do in the actual town, we took a day tour to visit a large tea plantation, hike through a 2-million-year-old forest to see a rare Pitcher Plant, and to a butterfly & insect farm. (See photos and video) Our guide was excellent and quite an expert in plant medicines and herbs--it's amazing what mother nature provides.
Our last day is just for relaxing and enjoying the cool temperatures and dry air. Actually, it feels just like a perfect day in SoCal!
