Rothenburg:   Is one of the Germany's best preserved medieval towns.  It is along the romantic road.   We chose to get a walking tour to better understand the town.  It costs about 7 Euros for adults and children below 12 are free.  Hanna was out tour guide.  She is a resident of the town and had firsthand knowledge of Rothenberg.   According to her about 2 million visitors come every year and they help generate 30% of their income.  Most of the barns in the town have been converted in hotels/bed and breakfasts.  There is a lot of expectation on the owners of the homes in this town to maintain the standards of this town.  During our walking tour we came across visitors from all over USA and Toronto Canada.  We were particularly excited about visitors from Kansas City.

Some the following attractions have a small entrance fee to help keep up with the maintenance.  Make sure to climb up the stairs of the Town Hall to get a fantastic view.  Visit the Medieval Crime and Punishment Museum.  Wow we have certainly come a long way.  Some of the devices used in punishment are plainly put appalling!  Doll Museum:  has everything a doll world will require.  Doll house. Doll theater, doll, doll classrooms, etc. Village of Detwang : is the oldest part of Rothenburg.   The village has a Church of St. Peter and St. Paul.  The church dates back to from around 968 AD.

Exploring this town we came across a store which makes ceramic candle light houses.  These houses are modeled after buildings in medieval towns.  For example we saw models of the town house, the cathedral , the tower building etc.  The store is Leyk Lichthauser.  The website: http://www.leyk-shop.com.  They ship to anywhere in the world.  These are some of the very good ceramic work we have seen.  Finally of course you have to have a Schneeball a delicacy of Germany.
