Unfortunately, we tried to leave Las Vegas at the same time as EVERYONE else who had been out revelling and as Los Angeles tried to prepare for a snow storm. We encountered huge traffic jams, with no alternative routes. We pulled off the freeway at the last casino in Nevada before the California border, had dinner and waited a few hours for the chaos to die down. Eventually we ended up in Barstow, CA and found a motel room at midnight.

So we have seen Las Vegas, arguably at its most ridiculous time of year. Both glad to say that we've been. Both had a terrific time but neither of us in any rush at all to go back.

Distance travelled: 145 miles, but it took hours!
