On Friday  we went to the Molen (windmill) in Gieterveen (Petra's parents town) and met the Molenaar (Windmill Operator). He was more than happy to show me around the windmill explaining the workings of it and what it was used for. Amazing.
After this it was time for Sinta Klaas at Petra's parents house.
This is similar to our Christmas only they have it on the 5th of Dec and it is a story that tells of a spanish bishop named Sinta Klaas who travelled around Holland dropping gifts off for children who had been good.
He carries a book with him that lists all of the children that have been good and bad and he has helpers named Zwarte Pietertje (Black Pete) who helps him deliver the gifts.
The children leave a shoe out next to the fireplace with hay, biscuits and maybe a carrot for Sinta Klaas' horses and Sinta Klaas or a Black Pete leave a gift in the shoe for the child.
ack Pete dolls everywhere in the shops and when you go to the supermarket leading up to Sinta Klaas, there are areas where kids leave a shoe in a hole in the wall and the supermarket leaves a gift in the shoe.
This was an amazing experience as the Potse family had set up a couple of the local girls to come around to their house dressed as Black Pete and they ran in throwing Papernoten (Traditional Christmas Ginger Biscuits) all over the house and at us!!!
They brought a sack full of gifts for all of us and we then proceeded to roll a dice to see who would get the gifts as is Dutch tradition. If you roll 1 you can eat a papernote (Biscuit), 2 you can have a candy and 6 you get to give out a gift whether it be yours or someone elses.

Saturday night was Club Hard with one of my favourite d.j's "Headhunterz". This was the hottest i've been since arriving in Holland as I danced for about four hours straight.
Dj's Pavo and Fausto also played and it was an awesome night.
For those of you who know The Oz club scene, The Palace in Groningen is about the same size as The Rise in Perth but the sound system and lasers are like Bubble in Melbourne.
All of the Clubbers were really friendly and I created a bit of a spectacle by doing the Melbourne shuffle (dance style from Melbourne club scene) with quite a few stopping to watch.

Sunday, was Sinta Klaas with some of Petra's mates Wilma, Bernoud and Marijke and this consisted of a few Heinekens and anothergreat dutch tradition "Gourmetten".
Gourmetten is basically an indoor Barbecue!
They place a grill in the middle of the dinner table and place an assortment of Meats, salads, fish, omellettes breads and dips around it. Each dinner plate has a small wooden Spatchular with it and you cook and flip your own food with it, You can also cook omellettes and pancakes on the bottom of the grill at the same time.
This was fantastic as you ate what you wanted to cook yourself. Very Tasty.
All of Petra's friends are very friendly and welcoming and have made me feel very much at home here in The Netherlands.

Oh well, thats all for now guys,
Speak soon.
