Where I stayed
Well, here we are in Greenville, South Carolina, and you never would have thunk it, but we were much more comfortable in the deeper south than we are here. It may be because we were in cities, and with friends. But when we checked in to our hotel in Greenville, the lady working the desk was really nice until she saw the Massachusetts license. After that, she scowled, and made no attempts at politeness, which, in a weird way, was comforting, because she was showing her true personality and was no longer showing us her lie. The other strange thing was that the accents were certainly thicker than they were in Mobile or New Orleans. Again though, maybe that's because we weren't in a city.
Luckily this is just a stop off, and tomorrow we drive to Chincoteague Island, Virginia, to see the ponies.
