Ok, we made it out of Vegas alive!  We did a good amount of gambling.  One night we made about $200 on craps, but we lost a bunch of it the next day.  Although, after some more winning, Shane left Vegas with an extra $30, and Jen ended up making a whopping $125.  Not bad for a couple of newbies!
Our last night in Vegas we saw Cirque du Soleil, which was absolutely beautiful and awe-inspiring.  We also took the Manhattan Express, which is a roller coaster that goes through and around the hotel New York, New York.  Jen had the common sense not to go on X-Scream, but Shane possesses no such sense, so he took it for a ride.  It's located on top of the Stratosphere tower, and it's the third highest thrill ride in the world (the first and second highest are also on top of the Stratosphere).  It's a one-track roller coaster that shoots you out over the side of the building, and it feels like you're being shot straight down into the ground (866 feet below).  It's freaky.
At some point we also went to the Hoover Dam.  It's big in case you were wondering.  There was a lot of dam traffic though.
Oh yeah, we also saw Jay Leno filming "Jay Walking" on Las Vegas Blvd.  It was kind of funny to see him interviewing someone off the street, and right next to the camera, there's a guy scribbling out cue cards as fast as he can, telling Jay what to say.
Thursday morning we said goodbye to Las Vegas, and drove to Flagstaff, AR.  On our way, we drove INTO the Grand Canyon!  It was awesome!  It was about a 15 mile drive from the entrance, to the Colorado River, filled with great inside views of the canyon, and lots of cacti!  The Subaru handled well, but the check engine light went on when we got to Flagstaff.  So when we took it into the dealer, they told us that there was some mud clogging up the sensors, and there wasn't actually anything wrong with the car, so that was a relief!  We have nooooo idea how mud could have gotten in the engine (see pic below).
