Yesterday was primarily spent on a bus, travelling from Montevideo to Salto for 6 hours. We have stopped in Salto for two main reasons... as a transit to the Iguassu falls and to rest before our 12 hour overnight bus. The hot springs, spa and body treatment centre afforded us an opportunity to relax. But to tell you the truth, these hot springs and body treatment services were NO WHERE as good as that experienced elsewhere... the centre itself was nowhere as good as that in Nha Trang, Vietnam where I was treated to mud baths all that time ago. We paid a ridiculous $US9 to gain access to a park that offered a couple of over-heated pools and lounges to sunbathe on. I got so bored, I left after a couple of hours. The pools were ridiculously hot... and to make matters worse, it is in the 30s here in Salto... So going to the so called hot springs was a pointless exercise given the heat of the day. After spending a couple of hours there, I crossed the road to a restaurant where I had a delicious plate of grilled chicken and salad... the meat here is fantastic.

It is kind of weird having to look at organising accommodation in Australia now... I have since looked into the Base Hostel, St Kilda in Melbourne because everyone just raves about it. I have booked 5 nights in an 8 bed dorm and 2 nights in a private room (23rd and 24th December)... only because the dorm was booked out on Xmas eve. And Ill be staying in an apartment with a local in Sydneys Redfern. Ive decided to splash out given that it is the end of my trip... Ive also booked an apartment for the 25 nights Ill be spending in Rio. I decided that I did not want to dorm it in, what is my final overseas destination for the year, apart from a transit stop of 2 nights in Santiago. My apartment is situated in Ipanema, which is claimed to be the best and safest beach area in Rio. I simply cant wait for Rio now. For those of you who want to dorm it in Rio, The Mellow Yellow Hostel in Cocacabana is one of the best, and highly recommended by both locals and travellers Ive met. I might visit here just to hang out with other travellers, in a different beach area.

Im simply over travelling for now and looking forward to hitting my final city... I have 2 more overnight bus journeys to go before hitting Rio... I am done travelling and cant wait to relax in the one city, Rio for just under a month.

Tomorrow we travel to the Iguassu Falls... one of the other main reasons for travelling through this region. Judging from the pictures and reviews from others, Im in for a treat!
