Just read the news about the ´supposed´ terroist threats in Britain (threats to blow up cross-atlantic flights) and the subsequent chaos at Heathrow. So glad to be out of that region... I´m not likely to be affected given that I will be leaving Europe via Madrid... no connections through London at all thank god. I can feel for the travellers in Heathrow at the moment, especially those who are travelling independently who have no friends or family with them to get them through the turmoil. My thoughts are with those independent backpackers being affected by this - I would´ve hated to have been stuck at Heathrow´s airport... one of my least favourite airports!
Anyway, a stroke of luck has come my way with meeting up with Yetkeen (guy from Istanbul) tonight in Sol´s main square. We ended up having dinner and he gave me the update on what happened this morning... yes, he did get with the girl about half an hour after I left at 5.30am. Good on him... a young guy, 25, he´s studying management, speaks fluent English so has the world at his feet. I´m catching up on the internet before heading out to Cuecha for a few drinks... not too many given that I have to check out of my hostel at 11am tomorrow.
I was a tourist today and did the Royal Palace, a fantastic church that really captivated me and a glorious park. More info and photos to follow when I have the guides on me.
